President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has arrived in his home district Thakurgaon on a two-day visit. He arrived in Thakurgaon by helicopter on Sunday afternoon. This is his first visit to Thakurgaon after assuming office as President.
Landing at Shaheed Mohammad Ali Stadium, warm reception
Abu Mohammad Khairul Kabir, chairman of the President’s Citizen Reception Committee, said that the President arrived at the Shaheed Mohammad Ali Stadium in Thakurgaon by helicopter at around 1 pm today. There, he was welcomed by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rafiqul Haque, Superintendent of Police Belal Hossain and members of the Citizen Reception Committee. Then the President went to the Thakurgaon Circuit House, where he received a guard of honor.
What’s on in the two-day program
During the visit, the President will visit the graves of his parents and meet local dignitaries and relatives. He will also attend a civic reception and lay the foundation stone of Thakurgaon University. He is scheduled to participate in several other programs during the two-day visit.
First visit to his home district after assuming office as President
It is worth noting that this is Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s first visit to Thakurgaon after assuming office as President, which has created increased interest and enthusiasm among the local residents. The local administration and civic reception committee have already made extensive preparations to welcome the President in their district.
