On August 26, rumors of the death of film actor and chairman of the Niraap Sarak Chai (NISCHA) movement, Ilyas Kanchan, spread on social media. The actor, who is suffering from brain cancer, is currently undergoing treatment in London and has been undergoing treatment there since April last year; he also underwent brain surgery in August last year. A photocard using the image of actress Sadika Parveen Poppy, who has been away from the camera for a long time, suddenly went viral, claiming that she is leaving the film industry because she considers acting a ‘sin’. This statement attributed to Poppy sparked heated discussions and criticism on Facebook, with even actor-director Bapparaj and presenter-actor Shahriar Nazim Joy criticizing it. Later, it was learned that the statement that was being spread was not actually Poppy’s, but completely fake.

In this context, Poppy told Prothom Alo about her long film career, saying that she considers this industry her family and believes that the income of every person in the film industry is 100% halal.
